Hey!

Quail season is coming around and for the past two years they've eluded me.

I was out near my mom's rabbit hunting and I'm hearing a lot of them. I'm also seeing a bunch run along the ground and could have definitely tagged a few. Did anyone want to team up later this year to try and flush these guys out? I have found them along a specific stretch near my moms place but am going to try and scout them a bit more to see if I can find more.

I'd be happy to take someone to this spot and maybe we can do some tradesies and you show me some other habitat that they live in?

Here's a little pic I was able to get from maybe 30ish feet away.

One day! If I get accepted at ASU for my bachelor's program, I'll get a doggo in 2022. I've been waiting a long, long time.

Having said that, if anyone wants to team up for some sneaky boiz, message me! And if anyone wants some company wherever they go for them, I'm down. I'd love to learn about different areas to hunt.

I've seen a good bunch by my moms but I'll be doing more recon out there trying to find the sweet spots.

I'm definitely going to have to do some more scouting around that area. I'm just excited that I might have an opportunity to get a quail... I wonder if anyone stole my camera watching their wash yet lmao.

Anyone who wants to go just pm me and I'll happily go. Your spot or my spot. I'd also be down for scouting new locations if anyone has suggestions or just wants to wing it. I don't mind marching around the desert looking for sneaki bois.

I'm sure the gf will want to go as well. I've been thinking of getting her a 20ga. Stoeger. Hopefully no one minds.

You boys measuring inches or talking quail :p JK Word on the street is there are good numbers of young of the year that are plenty ripe for the slaughter! What's your strategy? Running and gunning? How do you break the covey up?

Nice, 35s? I’ve always wanted a 2 door wrangler, but when it came down to it I couldn’t sacrifice the extra space.

Yeah 35s, but poopy all-terrains. I have been working to wear them out so I could throw some mud-terrains in there.

It's just me, and recently, gf. No family So enough room for me. But there's not much room in the back, even without the seats.

Every covey I saw scouting for dove have numerous young of the year. We have a family of 7 here in the RV park. Mom, pop and 5 full size young un's.

Nathan when you're ready for mudders check out the Mud Claw tires by Cooper. I've got a set on my F-150 and I love em. Reasonably priced and with a tread pattern that can shed itself of the stickiest gumbo mountain mud they can handle anything the desert can throw at them.

Ok I'm going to check those out, thank you! How do they hold up on the streets? My jeep is of course my daily driver so I'm also looking for something that holds up over time. I didn't buy my jeep for gas mileage and already killed the mpg with the lift.

I'm going to go see if I can't walk through some washes and find more of the quail where I normally hunt. They sure do seem more plentiful this year. And as sneaky as ever.

I put some Mastercraft (Cooper?) Courser CXT tires on my Jeep at the start of the year. It’s considered some kind of hybrid tire, not a true mudder but definitely more hardcore and aggressive than the A/T KO2s that were on my Jeep. I’ve been happy with them so far and it’s my DD.
