I think if you do a search here you will find several threads on it. Many of us use it. The thing I like is I can use it on my desktop computer and everything I enter (way points etc) shows up on my phone copy.

My buddy dropped on-x and went to another. For the same price of one state, you get the whole country and the ability to place a way point by typing it in. I had just updated my on-x after they finally gave me the 30% discount AFTER mine expired. They said I would NOT get again and they make you leave your charge card number -- which I think is not good. HUNTSTAND 20% off now

It may be Base Map from my search. I am going to try the free for a bit. I have bunches of stuff on OnX that is going to be a pain to transfer if I change. It depends on how much I would use other state info.

Was up north this morning in the snow, wind and cold, Had 1/2 bar, My OnX proved invaluable this morning with the GPS tracker in relationship with map of where I was. Found the tanks I wanted no problem, problem was all the squirrels must have been frozen from the storm. Im sticking to OnX, took awhile to learn it, and Im sure more to learn. .

OnX has saved my butt a few times when hunting and getting turned around in canyons and ravines. I like the offline maps feature and use the tracker all the time. At this point, I have so many way points saved in it, that I don't think I would ever change. It's dirt cheap in my mind for the value of always knowing where you are and never getting lost.

There is a Black Friday sale going on Base Map. I loaded the App on my phone and the program on my computer. I received a 30% off email from Base Map. That brought the price down to around $22 with tax for the year. I decided to give it a try. I do like the looks.

There is a YouTube video available that shows how to copy files from OnX over to Base Map. It is pretty simple. All files transferred without an issue. It looks like special tags you might have for waypoints on OnX don't transfer and you would have to change those on Base Map. For instance, I have some tanks, kills, game sightings etc marked on OnX. I will have to give them special icons again on Base Maps but the markers are there.

We will see how it works but 50 states for $30 a year beats 50 states for $100. I probably will not use more that 3 or 4 states.

look at several YouTube videos and it got fairly good reviews. Seems like HuntStand good better reviews. I have both free apps and have used both. Have not committed to buying the pro versions of either yet.

nothing beats a compass, a topomap and basic navigation skills. Carry a roll of surveyors tape with you to leave your breadcrumbs. Helps alot when things get thick and your in a hurry to find that animal. I never used gps or apps waste of money and not reliable. my topo is a great resource for maps they have custom options from hunting units to public and private property. https://www.mytopo.com/

I have found apps and gps to be quite reliable. You just plan for not having coverage, like off line maps, backup battery power etc. I do carry a compass and maps but so far have not had to use them and as to that tape that everyone hangs from trees, I take it down when I find it. More trash left in the forest that others should remove when done (I do if I use it) but most don't.

Just opened onX for today's elk hunt and it's expired. I use it for everything and don't want to give up my way points, maps, and tracking history. My question is....

Has anyone used the elite feature called "Draw odds and research"? Is it worth anything?? I'm going to renew no matter what. But that's the only additional feature that i would really use to be honest. Not sure it's worth the price to jump to elite for something like that. Any input is much appreciated.

I guess I'm just asking what the feature really provides and is it even accurate? I've never seen it know what it tells you. If it's just basic math of "There's 350 tags and 1350 put in for it last year" then it's useless to me.

I'm wondering if it gives stats on "you have 6 bps so your draw odds are 29%" type of a thing. Anyone know??
