So I got drawn for general javelina in 20A. I picked doing a bunch of OT at work throughout December, January, and this month rather than getting out and scouting. I now find myself at a crossroads of blowing off the hunt this year and focusing on rabbits and coyotes for now, or going out for a day or two when the season opens and seeing if I get really lucky.

Given that I may not be lucky despite doing my research on the G&F website and picking an area just east of Wilhoit (off the recommended FS road). Does anybody know any honey holes that they would be willing to share given that this isn't a favorite unit of most javelina hunters?
Buddy and I went month ago...20B...4 days..mostly rain/cold...didn't see a living animal the entire 4 days. Going for my tag this weekend 4 days, 20C. More rain, wind and cold (LOL) and were debating driving 7 hrs there....to hung Javelina again. If I dont use my tag? I can "point protect " it and let someone else hunt there?? I'm a newbie in AZ so sorry for dumb questions.

Did you buy the pointguard when you applied for your tag?

If yes, you can turn in your tag and pointguard will reissue you your points. If no, you'll just have to eat the loss if you decide not to hunt.

Found my new honey hole for Javalina. Took 3 days, but I now have 2 new honey holes...actually well used Javalina caves. Always fun to sneak up to a cave in thick brush wondering what might be in there. After finding the 2nd one and seeing fresh tracks coming out of it I got on the tracks and within 40 minutes I came within 30 yards of 2 Javalina (another one was just out of sight).

I did get one...little one ~25 to 30lbs. On my hike back to the truck I came across another group of about 5 animals. I tried to get a video of me hitting the J-13 Javalina call, but the video stopped short. Had one run up to about 20 feet with others coming in from different directions. Had to stop calling and start yelling at them. That was exciting.

lol. Well the rest of the story goes like this. Scouted ahead of time few weekends and found 2 good areas. First day glassed some pretty far 700 yards (fri). Sat spent AM walking an area with good rooting and fresh tracks. Buddies bday was that weekend so didn't hunt sat evening spent it with beer. SMH. Headed out sunday again and guys next to us took 2 out of the herd we were after. Live and learn i guess another reason i usually hunt alone. Sunday scouted new spots and monday morning snow came in early 100 yard visibility. Snowed and rained till wed horrible. Developed a cough monday and had to deal with 30mp winds rain and snow but thursday snow let up. Spent whole day walking tracks in thick brush. By evening i was sick as a dog. cold weather and cough don't mix. Packed friday and went straight to urgent care. Honestly i do like this unit for pigs but things just didn't go as planned due to weather.

Pic is from javelina hiding under camper during snow storm. lol little turds didn't even hear them.

My first time hunting in 20A . Really enjoyed the country. We saw lots of track, but came up short on Javelina. We also saw quite a few deer in the unit. Already have plan to visit 20A again maybe even putting in for deer. I know the snow greatly affected our hunt, but that’s hunting. If you ever go to a Prescott stay at Days Inn. Very polite people and a continental breakfast every morning egg sausage, toast, waffles, coffee, and milk.
