Its That time again next month:

Ok Guys- Its time again to apply for Elk and Antelope. So for elk, do you hunt an area that you know well but the elk get to hiding on first day, or do you put in for an area you have tagged in but dont know it as well but is loaded with elk ? Or put in because of number of permits or draw percentage or success rate? Alot to think about. Now speed Goat, last year a buddy put in for a hard to draw unit, took 16 points to get drawn, Im not waiting that long, so I guess Im only going to put in for 2 choices and pray I get lucky, who knows maybe I will. Last time I got drawn it was a choice area and it took 12 points to be drawn, again to long to wait. So what does everyone else think, Late hunts are easier to draw but I hate the cold and weather, so Im doing early hunts.

Our group truly feels the animals have or are migrating. The unit we hunt has gone dry, I’m no expert of course but we’re just not seeing them in numbers like in the past. Switching units I’m ok with, always happy to see new country. Good luck everyone.

could be you're in a harvest management zone, one in which AZGFD is trying to reduce numbers for one reason or another
Sooooooo I think AZGFD forgot to publish the regs LOL. They sent an email to update your portal account and blah blah to prep for the draw. BRO, i cant prepare for a draw that i dont know what the rules are!

I was starting to think the same thing. I don't know how, but Kamala is involved.

Maybe it was like that BILL in the Government....need to approve (apply) before you know what is in it? Trust there are no changes that have happened, it is all to benefit the hunter "EASILY" and you will be happy once you see it.

Depending on which units AZG&F has, for the last several years been methodically reducing numbers of elk. Too many for the habitat.

Maybe they can figure out a way to "Reduce # Of Hunters" Applying in my units of choice. !!!:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

From what I was told by a pleasant lady I talked to on the phone at AZGFD, regs will be out soon. I ask what does soon mean, typical response she said regs will be out before Feb 7. I think they enjoy the chaos they create because it make us hunters get a little crazy.

I think they have started aerial surveys to determine if all the bulls were killed last fall. Kidding, but A LOT we’re killed in my areas.
Or maybe we are just overly anxious and impatient.
Let's hope this weeds out the non hunters who take tags away from people that'll put in more than 30 minutes of their time

Wow, looks like the late bull hunts have been pushed to Dec 1st.
Interesting. People can now enjoy their turkey not frozen in the woods hahah
Wow check out the archery hunts!!! I chose the wrong year to cash my points in haha

They figured out how to reduce both harvest numbers and hunter numbers I think. Put the late bull hunts when it’s cold and or chance of access being closed when it snows

I’ve changed up the units some for my wife and I, but still haven’t changed it enough to produce a tag. Maybe this year.

My buddy told me that they moved most hunts by 1-2 weeks because of the late start to the rut. Many hunters who were drawn for the first "rut" hunts heard no bugling last year, and few could get responses. Harvest was low for those hunters. That in turn has pushed everything else back 1-2 weeks.

I've heard the same about the late rut from hunters in Washington, Idaho, and Colorado.
Maybe we are over thinking it and it's just how the weeks liked up. I seem to remember maybe 7 or 8 years ago early archery ran almost into October
