Welk I've checked five times in fifteen minutes and still haven't drawn anything. Time to pout.

Just kidding. I'm sure the first go around is being hit right now. Congrats to all who draw.

By end of day it will be 99% complete. Ok that's just a number I threw out there. But it's probably fairly accurate. There will be a few stragglers a few days later and maybe even a week later. But also they did this on a weds and not Friday so it may be over sooner and banks posting faster

Same hunt as last year for us. Early Oct. limited opp. cow elk hunt. At least we know where to start our scouting this year. :)
Wherever you weren't last year?

Good luck! If I run into any dumb and fat cows my way, I'll let you know

5 B South in September. Yeah man. Planning on being there the full 2 weeks, if that is what it takes. I'll be in touch with several folks on here about getting together for this hunt.
And if a person without a tag wants to stop by and help me get my first elk, I'll make sure there is plenty of food and beverages in camp.
I'm heading their Saturday, scouting and sheds here I come.
Did someone say Ricky G will do the camp chores?
RickyG has me and Fern to do camp chores... But I'll be scouting 5A in the coming months for my uncle. Depending on what part of 5BS youll be in, maybe I'll come up and hang out during some scouting trips.

I certainly appreciate your offer. I’ll be in touch.
And, ifyou have not tried a loin cloth, I generally have along a clean, non-branded one you could check out.
It's non-branded that way you don't get mistaken for a trad-bow influencer, like Rick himself.

Hey, no fair fixing it!
I didn't delete it. I "made a mistake". It worked for Hillary, why not for me?

Anyways, back on topic. With elk results now official, I went and picked up a Mapquests map for unit 5A today. Time to start scouring and comparing it to OnX, and do a little pre-scouting before I figure out some areas to check out. Maybe this summer I'll get a chance to go do a couple scouting sessions.
Never heard of hardcopy MapQuest, something new?
Not sure why I said MapQuest... It's a HuntData map... 🤦‍♂️

Can you tell it's been a long week?
If you didnt get a tag, The Portal and G & F web page has Leftover posted and number of permits, Some Good Tags left for sure, Im surprised. Good Luck Everyone.
I'm tempted to try to get the one late archery bull tag in 5A, so I could do some hunting in 5A too... I know I'm not that lucky though.
Remember the left overs this year and prepare to list it as choice 3 next year

Question on Carry while in feild? I know on Muzzle loader hunt, tag holder can carry in field, but what about MULES that are wanting to go and walk in field with tag holder, Can He carry Legally, a sidearm ??
Yup. Sidearms with a 4" barrel or under are considered "self defense" firearms, so you can carry them even if you're not hunting.

They could carry a rifle if they wanted to as long as they have a hunting license. They're coyote hunting  .
Biatch, I resemble that remark since I didn't draw this year. I've got 3 people lined up to help them hunt and haul. May end up with elk in the freezer after all.
same.
Greetings AZF,

Drew the late rifle limited opportunity any elk tag in units 17-20...... Looks to be tough which I am ok with, but is there elk? I am in Kingman and planning to scout, but after reading, I am considering if there are any elk out there. I am military and only have so much leave to burn....I cant be out there for 3 weeks unfortunately. Additionally, due to all the military moving, its hard to get to know an area really well. Does anyone know how many of those tags are given out each year. I am a relativity new hunter and I cant seem to find that info. I am thinking for targeting 17A or 19B. Its such a big area. If you feel inclined to offer any assistance, or just to chat about it, please message me, it would be very appreciative.
What are your dates? Cow only or any elk, or antlered?

In total, there's 635 tags for that limited-opps elk hunt in those units for 2023, spread over a few dates and different elk requirements. Antlered, antlerless, or any.

To say you're in for a tough hunt is probably an understatement. People who know where elk are in these units are not going to share info lightly, because they're hard to find and low in density. Telling someone where your area is is almost certainly going to "ruin" that area for you. Most guys hunting these units successfully live in the units and/or have weeks/months to scout and find them before the season.

Good luck!
