Fun with the Sunfish

Discussion in 'Fishing' started by sremington, Jul 11, 2006.

  1. Well it was a nice day out today after all the storms that came rumbling through yesterday. We headed on up to the lake to do a little leisure fishing and swimming. My 2 oldest kids ages 6 and (almost) 5 caught a bucket full of sunfish. Elizabeth caught the largest one of the day and Sam came in at a close second. Here are a couple pictures I took of them this afternoon.

Great looking kids Steve, those smiles say it all. Thanks for sharing.

It takes a mess of 'em to make a meal, but those are real good eating little fish. Most of us call 'em bluegill here in AZ.

  3. Yea the kids definitely get their looks from their mother... not me

Bluegill I think is the technical term. Us Mainers always do things bass ackwards....

Not necessarily so Steve, after all, they are considered sunfish. I believe they're from the same family as perch and crappie.
