Lets see if we can start some discussions here.

How many guys are into the long range 22LR shooting?

What guns are you using?

What is your choice in ammo?

I have been playing around with it using my CZ 455 and Ruger 10/22
I was out plinking with my 6.5CM I really enjoy shooting an accurate bolt gun they are relaxing and fun but with a 6.5 it is also pretty expensive even when reloading.

I am researching what will be my next 22LR a few considerations so far are

Modify my CZ 455 even more, lol most likely just as expensive as a new rifle.

Long range accurate ammo? Yes, some ammo can shoot fine under a 100 but not hold a group at 300 or 400 yards...

Serious question here... would a 22LR be able to punch through a paper target at 400 yards? I can't imagine trying to shoot any critters at that distance, including prairie dogs.
I definitely want to start upgrading my 10/22 to be more accurate farther down range. I’m sure I’ll get some good ideas from this thread

love my cz 455 not a big fan of the 457
I routinely shoot 200-300 yards with my CZ455 Tactical Target. I use whatever bulk ammo I have, as it is at steel targets.

200 yard hits with a CZ455 TTT .22LR. Nikon Tactical Rimfire Scope - you have to turn it up quite a bit or headphone it to hear the hits - but the rifle has no issue doing it.

GarandThumb on youtube just did a video of shooing 100-300 yards with an FX airgun.
A 22LR has a maximum range of over a mile.

My father inlaw and I have matching ruger precision rimfire in 22lr that we take out to 300. But most of the time 200 yards with smaller targets. It's fun trying to hit the top of a shotgun shell off at 200. We tried a coke can at 300 and it is a POKE. Still pops a can.

The sad truth is when I was a kid my 6 year old cousin was killed by a 22 from around a mile away. I am sure it would have no problem punching paper or a P-dog at 400.
@Fern and @PaulGT2164 I have to agree the CZ 455 is pretty good rifle and does shoot very well. My CZ is a Varmint tacticoolwith minimal modifications. The 457 varmint MTR has a match chamber and is winning a lot of competition out of the box... I would really like to find a 457 Varmint Precision chassis MTR.
I am sure you are all talking about shooting off a rest.
Can you shoot an egg while standing and offhand at 300 yards ?
This girl can. Her skills are amazing.

You should put on a long range .22 shoot

My brother and I were messing around last year, shooting various calibers at a 1/4" 4x8 sheet of Grade A plywood.
At 500yds I was amazed a .22 with regular ol' gopher killin' ammo drilled a hole clean through.

Agreed! Have you see the prices of watermelon!
I decided to order in a CZ 457 Varmint MTR and I am putting a Gen II FFP 5-25 Vortex on it for glass with a 30 MOA base. Can't wait for the fun to begin. I also picked up several 1000 rounds of Match ammo to see what it likes best.

I was eyeballing those at one time too. That should be a very nice shooting LR .22. Good luck with it!
