well my eyesight is not getting any better and i have great scopes on my predator rifles, but only a fibre optic clip on type for my shotguns. now they are great for birds and bunnies, but what do you all think and recommend for my 835? you can get the pict rail cheap, already drilled and tapped receiver, but for a red dot...???? i think i could swing on them better if i could just see the dot. i know about parrallex, i have a parralex free S&B on my AR, but for an under $100 red dot for a shotgun what would you recommend? truglow 30mm, halo type.....don't want to spend as much as an aimpoint, eotech, etc. thanx in advance!

ooooh parralex free for $80, i'm on it payday, i'll get the rail now and then the scope! you get so spoiled with rifles and great optics that can out shoot anyone then you forget the poor shotty with the walmart fiber optic. i have my mossy 835 dedicated for predators, my beretta 1200f for upland birds only, my FN TPS for HD, and my 20 gauge Browning BPS is getting retired until my grandson is old enough to use it (another 10 years). thanx for the link, and botach has a spotty history but i have never had a problem with them.

I bought a few for a shotgun setup and can make my vision work with them. I had a the Burris model, which has a large sight window and still no luck. I'll stick to the fiber optic sight.
I had trouble with red dots and didnt really care for them for a long time no matter what brand I used the red dot reticle would look like 3 small dots blobbed together. Turned out I have an Astigmatism in my right eye now with my glasses the dot looks like a dot like it should.

After that last dog I shot in the butt, (go ahead and giggle Red) I was thinking the same thing for my 835, let us know how it works out.

prolly taught it a lesson. i got shot in the anal region with rock salt in a shotgun stealing melons out of an old lady's garden. man that hurt like all get out!!! i think the idea will work, if not, i'll throw it on my HD shotgun so it's win/win either way for just a little scratch. i could not beleive some of the prices for the same optic on some of the other websites. some people have had problems witn botach but i have ordered from them in the past without issue. my season does not start until halloween so i should have the 835 set up for preds by then.

Look at the industry as a whole. there are devices that come out on the market that just a small margin purchases for one reason or another. Take for instance the fad of using a red dot and a magnifier for an AR style hunting gun. The device is use by possibly 2% of the hunters out there and for a reason. for the money you spend on both devices you could purchase a high quality traditional scope, which in the long run is getting the job done better.

A red dot on a predator shotgun is about the same thing in my opinion. Unless you are restricted by some medical sight problem a simple bead or fiber optic site is going to serve you just as well.

The industry is full of companies making bucks off of predator hunters who don't know any better and are fancy on gizmos and new devices.

I really like the bead sight on my shotguns. It is simple, fast and you have a large field of view. If I were to use anything different on a shotgun, it would be a ghost ring sight.
Ive put fiber optic beads on all my shotguns and love them. The only reason I personally would put a red dot or scope on a shotgun is when Im shooting ultra tight patterns through my turkey tube for turkeys or shooting slugs.

i have Hi Viz on all my shotguns, i like the fiber optic for birds, but since this is a predator only SG, and the DC choke with #4 or BB is tight, i figured why not. i have no gun purchases pending until after December when bonus's come in then it's another CCW handgun so i gotta spend some money somewhere. like i said if it doesnt' work on the Franken835, it'll go on something else. last year it took a lot of game with just the red tube on it but, since i'm sitting there calling in theory it seems that it would be easier to just put the dot on and squeeze. i have a red dot on my primary pred rifle and it hits what i put it on as long as i do my part, the short dot 1-4, FFP S&B is easy as pie to put that little dot on whatever and take the shot.
i'll post some more whenever i get it, prolly a couple of weeks. i'm not going pred hunting until after halloween as per usual. may love it, may hate it who knows.

i went ahead and ordered it from botach. i cannot beleive the price difference from $76 for theirs and up to $174 for the exact same iTAC RDS1 at other places. found out it is the exact same as the one Sig sells, except it is rebranded at the sig factory! same scope! done all the time for the mark up. anyway it is small, just a dot and we will see how it works on the slayer. now i just gotta get one of the new hunter sidesaddles and the dedicated calling shotgun will be done. now on to the HD one, it is one guard, just needs to be dressed up more.

on another note, went out for quail this weekend and got skunked on quail but got 14 cottontails, all cleaned, quartered and in the freezer. we are going out to the kofa's next weekend where a guy that just got back said the coveys are in the hundreds. should be fun.

YEP! same with the ITAC pistol Light/Laser. Must be decent if a company like sig will stake their reputation on them. when you get it let me know where they are made? Im betting overseas? but anywhere is better than china.. lol

supposedly from the MASSIVE research, and i aint kiddin, the parts are all sent to Sig and then their techs assemble them. the RDS is assembled a block from sig w/o the sig logo. from what i have found they are about 1/4 an inch longer than the one the sig sells. same lifetime warranty. just like everyone thought vortex was crap, now they can't keep them in stock. i had to call Botach due to a computer glitch and he said everyone is out except for them and i beleived him. he processed my order, charged my card, my phone range letting me know, and 2 hours later got a UPS tracking number. frigging amazing!

well i got the iTAC today, man is it small! just perfect for teh 835 critter gitter! limsaver came in at the same time to tame those 3-31/2" loads! i had used some obama injenuity to fashion a slip on pad that looked like the shotty had a bra on! well that slip on fit the FNTPS perfect and the limbsaver precision fit, well fit perfect. the red dot, very well boxed, came in ups box, inside box was bubble bag, inside that cardboard box, inside that custom made plastic box with all components in precut foam. 2.5" that's it. i put it on the very last toward the barrel rail slot and aimed at my dogs in the backyard for awhile, both eyes open and with the parallex free that dot does not have to be centered. i threw the tennis ball best as i could with a shot gun in one hand and the ball in the other and aimed on my lab, perfect as long as it is non centered shots go where the dot is. i'm pattering sunday out in a field with huge hay bales and a big piece of cardboard and some paper plates. only using the one dead coyote choke and the xtra full turkey that came with the 24" barrel when i bought another barrel, federal premium 3" #4 and i think i'll pick up some T shot but **** that is expensive.
i have a full box of federal premium 3"#5 1 3/4 oz at 1300 FPS, how do you think that would work on a dog since i'm a die hard #4 fan?????

I'll be shooting at a paper plate from 30-40 yards, then centering the dot in the middle of the pattern

sound like i have a plan or should i pick up some different ammo? i only have the 2 chokes remember. thanx in advance for the advise!!!
