How do you guys track OTC harvest reports?

I've been just using the AZGFD spreadsheet to check harvest reports, but it doesn't work very well on my phone. Are there are any better solutions out there?

only way Game and Fish advises to do it (sourced by them) is call Game and Fish at their harvest tracking phone number or go to AZGFD Harvest Tracking

I have seen one or two outside websites that basically reformat the harvest tracking website to be a bit more mobile friendly, but I don't know if I'd rely on it considering it isn't a state-managed website.

Thanks for the heads up about the harvest tracking phone number, I didn't know about that.

I'll have to look into those outside websites. The only one I saw wasn't much better than the spreadsheet and I think it cost money. And yeah, the reliability of the data is something I'd be concerned about too.

Since I do software design on the side, I started putting together a free app recently that pulls the official AZGFD harvest data in real-time, but makes it way easier to check on your phone.

This is what I've got so far.👇 Anything you’d change or add to make it more useful?

Yeah, but this is just a link to the spreadsheet on their website. It's not really designed to be easily read on a phone.

That's why I decided recently to start building my own app that just pulls directly from this spreadsheet, except it'll be formatted much better for phones.

You're not wrong. lol

Fortunately we do only have to check once a week, but the less-than-optimal design of the spreadsheet system on my phone was just annoying enough after a couple years to motivate me to build a better option in my spare time. 😅

Who knows, maybe AZGFD will implement my app into their system. Win for everyone. 😂

I am not trying to be insulting but I dont see the purpose. Unless you're getting a hunger games cannon to sound off the remaining tags in a unit, you still have to check once a week regardless if its your spreadsheet or the game and fish real time reporter.

To me the game and fish one is beyond simple, and I am tech stupid, wednesday evening I either scroll to the unit I want and look for open or closed or look to the right for an open unit. No need to know how many tags are left, its either open or closed Wednesday to Wednesday

Seems like trying to create a better M2 machine gun.

All hail the algorithm

Totally fair! And I appreciate the feedback. You're right, the only important piece of info is whether a unit is closed or open on Wednesday night and the AZGFD spreadsheet does accomplish that.

I'm just looking to make it a little easier and faster to get that information on your phone. So that rather than searching "Arizona harvest tracker" on Google, clicking their website, clicking the harvest tracker, then scrolling down to find your unit, then scrolling right to see it's status. It's just 1-click to open the app and I can immediately see my unit's status without scrolling or zooming.

Feels worth it to me, but I'm also lazy. Lol

I'm hoping the beta will go live before the end of October. 🙏

I'll be posting more updates on the Facebook page if you want to follow the progress of the app.
